Micah Temple Youth (teen group)

Micah Temple Youth (MiTY) is Temple Micah's teen group--led by teens and assisted by Shira--our incredibly organized, experienced youth advisor from American University.

MiTY holds monthly events and board meetings. In 2004-2005, MiTY celebrated Havdalah on the terrace of the Kennedy Center, sung Sukkot blessings over the traditional pizza, and organized a star-search opportunity for young Micah talent! On March 9, 2005, MiTY sponsored a highly successful night out at BD's Mongolian BBQ in Bethesda to raise money for tsunami relief, the New Israel Fund, and its own operation. Each year in the Spring, the youth group leads a Kabbalat Shabbat service.

MiTY is there to make sure that Temple Micah maintains a community where Jewish teens can build friendships and provide a uniquely Jewish spin on social action, leadership and plain old fun. MiTY not only provides opportunities for fun with Temple Micah teens, but also with teens from the entire Mid-Atlantic region.

Because MiTY is a member of the National Federation of Temple Youth, members can attend socially and culturally enriching three to five day weekend retreats with hundreds of Jewish teens.  There might be learning involved, but we promise that the subject matter is pertinent to teens and that it's effectively disguised as "fun!"

All current and future TM high schoolers are invited to join in MiTY events regardless whether you attend Religious School. To get in on the fun, drop a line to our MiTY advisor.  Also, read April 2005 Vine article about Youth in Action.
